I had finally gotten out of a rut.

Students are supposed to look forward to going home.

I have cried more in the past 18 hours at my parents' house
Than I had all year.

I told them about my depression.
It doesn't matter.
My dad is yelling just as much.

I finally stopped crying
But I feel like throwing up.
I drank too much Irish Cream.
Why?
I wish my rent lasted 12 months instead of 9.
Why?
I want to just stay with my girlfriend for the summer
But I don't want to be a burden.
Why?
I'm homesick.
But also homeless.
I have no other place to go.

I live in Silenzio, an Italian section in New York. I use to be proud of my heritage, but it became difficult to be proud when there are people out there giving you a bad reputation. Silenzio is run by the Italian mafia, Controllo. They don't hide it, you know who they are. They label themselves with gleaming brass knuckles, and pinstripe suits. They reek of slaughter of the innocent, and illegal cigars. People get killed, beaten, raped, and other unspeakable crimes everyday. The law used to have a lose grip around crime, until Manillio De Luca came into control. He shut it all down. He wanted fear to contaminate the city. He had surveillance watching the city at all times. Brides, being made to cops to look the other way. Everyone paid Controllo in some way, or got punished. I hated living in fear, hearing cries of help, and feeling hope fade around me.
